Coronavirus COVID-19

As the situation across the UK with the Coronoavirus outbreak intensifies, we would like to outline the steps we are taking to minimise the risk to both ourselves & our customers.

“….there remains no evidence that pet animals can be a source of infection of Covid-19 for humans or other animals, or that they become sick.”

British Veterinary Association

We’ve spoken with a few customers over the last few days whom had genuine concerns or uncertainty surrounding the virus and transmission to (or from) their pets.

The latest guidance from the British Veterinary Association (BVA):

“We are particularly keen not to cause any unnecessary concern that could lead to pet abandonment. We would emphasise that at the moment, there remains no evidence that pet animals can be a source of infection of Covid-19 for humans or other animals, or that they become sick. The main source of infection remains human-to-human transmission.”

Following the current advice we have implemented the following adjustments to our daily routine and appointments:

Extended Appointment Gaps

By ensuring we maintain a 30min gap between each appointment, this should eliminate the ‘cross-over’ of customers and allow us to sweep, clear and disinfect the work areas before the next session.

Disposable Gloves

We routinely use gloves in the salon for a number of uses, from when animals might need medicated shampoos, through to when we mix our cleaning products & disinfectants etc.

Going forward we will now be wearing these throughout the day for all appointments in an effort to further minimise the potential for any transfer to/from surfaces used by customers, such as the counter top for example.

Sanitiser & Wipes

We have a small amount of disinfectant wipes and sanitiser which customers are welcome to make use of during their visit – please feel free to ask.

Pet Collections

We have always offered a home collection service for our customers and provided a discount/concessions for those particularly vulnerable within the local community for whom visiting the salon would be difficult due to our limited disabled access.

However, in light of the current government advice for persons to work from home and increasingly self isolate, we appreciate that there are likely to be many more persons over the coming days & weeks that would struggle to visit the salon. Therefore we would like to extend the offer of home collections to all our customers within the local area, free of charge. If you would like to take advantage of this service, please do give us a ring and we’d be happy to arrange this for you.

We will continue to monitor the situation closely and follow the latest Government advice, which I’m sure will likely mean additional restrictions in the coming days and weeks.

Any queries or questions in the meantime, please do get in touch and thank you for your support.

John.
