National Lockdown 3.0

Due to the rapidly increasing rise in infection rates and the truly harrowing mortality figures over the last few days, Carrie & I both feel that we need to do all that we can to safeguard ourselves & our customers.

In the last few days industry bodies – such as DEFRA, PIF and Canine & Feline Sector Group (CFSG) have further reviewed and revised the restrictions currently in place upon the Pet Industry as part of this third period of National Lockdown.

….”Groomers may accept a dog to be groomed by appointment where this is necessary for the
animal’s welfare and not simply for aesthetic reasons. Welfare reasons could include on
veterinary advice for a skin condition or excessive matting causing the pet discomfort. When routine grooming can be delayed without affecting the pet’s welfare until the national lockdown is eased it should be put off.”

Sadly therefore, we are asked once again to suspend our day-to-day activities and appointments, with the Salon doors to remain closed until further notice.

Allowances can be made for pets whom have pre-existing medical conditions (or those which develop conditions requiring vet treatment/referral during the next few weeks), where grooming is essential to alleviate suffering to an animal, or the immediate potential thereof of from a welfare perspective.

…”Professional groomers should therefore assess each request for grooming on a case by case basis,
using their discretion to judge whether a groom is required to alleviate any suffering the animal
might be experiencing.

In these cases, we will be permitted to open the Salon to provide assistance in basic hygiene, ‘non-aesthetic’ grooming and provision of Pet Foods, but all of this is to be strictly via pre-arranged bookings.

Whilst we have worked hard over recent weeks to create a completely ‘contactless’ and safe environment within the Salon, the risks with inessential travel at the moment are just too high and therefore we must limit our interactions to just those who present a very clear need.

We will still be available remotely to offer advice & support – please do get in touch if you have any concerns at all with maintaining your dogs health and coat condition throughout this lockdown.

If you do have an appointment scheduled in the next few weeks, we will be in touch shortly to look at rescheduling where ever possible.

Stay Home, Stay Safe and give your four legged friends a big hug from us!

John & Carrie xx
